CURRICULUM

At Promise Land Preschool we believe that learning is best done through play and having fun!

Promise Land launched it’s very own curriculum in 2018, that will continue to be implemented throughout our program. Our new curriculum is a culmination of research, past curriculum used, and our experience with the children at Promise Land.

The focus of this curriculum is to attract the 21st century learner by integrating multi-dimensional teaching methods. By using repetition, presenting truths in different ways, and offering creative learning environments, we know that our children will succeed throughout the year. Each classroom has a weekly focus with their Biblical Promising Point, shapes, colors, numbers, letters, community helpers, sign language, and more that empower our teachers to lead their classrooms in ways that benefit each child. Each department has a similar structure to their learning themes, which will also allow for more school wide unity.

Each department has goals that the children will be working towards throughout the year to meet. While we understand that these goals can become overwhelming and pressuring at times, we have put them in place so that we can monitor each child’s progress. Our goal at Promise Land is to equip each child to succeed and reach their potential. We take pride in a child’s individuality and understand that each child learns differently, and at various paces. This new curriculum will encourage and challenge each child in their own, unique way that inhibits learning.

At Promise Land we believe in hands on learning and highlighting each child’s development. This new curriculum encourages both. There are plenty of opportunities to reinforce previously learned objectives, and opportunities to scale the activity based on where your child is at. Classrooms setups allow children the freedom to explore and make free choices within age-appropriate limits to develop independence and self-confidence. Classroom activities focus on presenting children with a wide variety of hands-on activities, opportunities for play, and guided experiences to learn. Our daily schedule reflects our belief that children need a flexible yet reliable routine to grow and ensure optimal cognitive development.

We have chosen to integrate the concept of Total Teaching Time which is a positive, creative teaching approach that stimulates repetition and five-sense learning. We understand that our kids are five-sense learners and to fully understand a concept they need to see, hear, taste, smell, and touch something about that concept.

Our classrooms each have a daily structure and planned lessons that coordinate with the classroom goals. Teachers will create invitations to play that focus on cultivating their imagination, senses, motor skills, creativity, cognitive, and social objectives. We work closely with parents to see what milestones are being met for each individual child through tri-quartely assessments. We ensure that children are well prepared for school that go through out Kindergarten Preparatory program that not only focuses on education, but social skills and being a good friend.

Our administration, teachers, and staff are excited to begin implementing this new curriculum in our program this school year. Our verse for the year is 1st Thessalonians 5:11 – Be kind to one another and build each other up. Promise Land Preschool is a place that we celebrate each other and encourage everyone to thrive.
